Several stave churches that have been preserved because they were reused during the Middle Ages as floors in new church buildings are now stored in the Swedish History Museum’s warehouse. Hemse stave church in Gotland, which dates to 1107-1112, is one of the churches studied in-depth in the project. The picture shows a sketch for the reconstruction. Model by Gunnar Almevik.
